Well, it's a national holiday today, or this weekend, so sitting here with the rain tumbling down Lofi Beats and Sophie Tucker playing, time to cruise through another blog for you all. Pretty pleased with the Guzzi, it's now warranted and registered. $57.00 to register, that's what all bikes should be. So we have a mid week ride around the Coromandel coming up this week, which I am really looking forward to. On any trip we have taken, every night is essentially party night, particularly the first night. Hotels are chosen for their abilities to fit us all in and a safe haven for the motorcycles ( always comes first). We eat well, drink lots of great wines, consume more than a few bourbons. We sit around in large groups sorting out quiz night and telling stories. It is an unavoidable part of motorcycling life and with people who are or become your friends (sometimes for life). This is a natural byproduct of being with like minded souls, the superior beings called motorcyclists. I look around our evenings tables at our typically hilarious dinners, some excellent riders in this lot, and all enjoyable to a man. Tales of rule bendings, trouble making, and near close calls. All in a strange vein of humour ( usually at the expense of others), that we all as motorcyclists understand instantly. Sure the lies get bigger and the speeds faster, but we all understand that and accept that as part of who we are. So got to prep the Guzzi for the next big lizard ride the following month. By then I should have the heads torqued down and the valve clearances all sorted out. It's a lovely bike to ride, very similar to the Ducati GT750 in it's position and stance. MotoGP has kicked off again with the first official testing underway this weekend, and some of the bikes look bloody gorgeous. Love this time of year re learning who is who on the track and seeing all the new color schemes. The riding styles are now completely different to how they were just a few short years back. I mean check out the first image in this weeks blog. Amazing really, and with this new season we have a lot of new 'rookies' entering the big class, so it should be interesting to see how they go, and what impact they have on the premier class. My prediction, lots of paint swapping, a few bikes clattering into the sand, a few upsets from the newbies and then a settling in period where the riders from the past couple of years will get their 'A' game out and rise to the top.
