Welcome one and all. How was your week, what a week for motorcycle racing on TV eh? Moto GP, stunning as ever, and now we get the BSB here too. Sorry the blog is a bit late, I try to get it out in the weekend for you all to take the time to enjoy, but I've been away with my fellow Lizards on a nice ride around Northland. Had a great time catching up with them, some had ridden from as far as Wellington, the Wairarapa and Palmerston North just for a three day ride around, and then a quick trip home. The weather wasn't as kind to us as we would have liked, but that's life I suppose. But we managed to have a coup[e of great nights at the Duke of Marlborough, drinking nice reds and talking about all sorts of things. Whilst all of this was going on I had time to reflect on what your friends on bikes mean to me, and to the others, again we talked about that common bond most motorcyclists have and it comes out later in the day in the relaxed atmosphere of a bar or at a dinning table, or even in a motel room over a few Bourbons. People discussing motorcycling, matters that are important and some that are not so, but when you look around the tables, there is a quite look of satisfaction on everyone's faces because we are doing what we love. Had a couple of interesting moments while away, walked into a bar and a guy turns to us and says " you must be the Lizards?". We all cracked up. This happened twice. Spent an afternoon in the local Cossie club playing pool as it was hauling down outside, great live music, and then Eddie Lowe comes on stage and belts out a few of his famous old ballads. Another thing that happened twice was I got two punctures with rapid deflation the result. TWO!!!! Go figure, one a screw and the other a rock puncture. So a big thanks to the guy at Carters Tyres in Dargarville who fixed my tyre and then charged me nothing for doing so, a big thank you to him, and thanks to cycle treads in Barrys point road for fitting me with new Michelin Sport 5 tyres, great service and a bloody good price. So our ride from Russell to home ended up taking nearly 12 hours, and I have to say I was totally knackerd by the time I got home Motorcycles, it's our passion, it's our lifestyles, it's our family. Enjoy
This place where washed up dreams can become reality
A Huskerdavidson, or a Haqrleyvarna
Noice mate noiceI guess it happens, but you want to cry out Nooooohhhhhhhh!!!
The venerable Maggot, thousands of dispatch careers were built on these things, ugly as fuck, sometimes un reliable, handled pretty averagely, but everyone had one and they went well. You could fit your polystyrene coffee cup in behind that barrel and the carb and it would stay hot for ages
WOW
Oh yes, many a dream over these
Hmmm don't know about these
Nice scheme
So simple, and unbelievably quick
My first race bike was one of these
Now that's pitchin it in.
Back in mah dayhhh
The smell was unmistakable
And to finish a couple of images from the weekend away
Looking a bit tired
And what an evening it was
There's quite a collection of different motorcycles in the group.
And he's wearing the sponsors T shirt haha
Who'd have ever thought that you'd see this guy on a Harley.
So there it is, riding done, washing being done, the satisfaction of another safe weekend away riding. Have a great week, enjoy your mates and your bikes. See you all soon.
