Well I sit here late on a Sunday night, trying to get the blog out, and do a million other things as well. Listening to the weather outside and it's fair pissing down. Waiting for this weeks MotoGP to come on. I can't believe how fast these guys are this year, and how fast all the bikes are not just the works teams, but the satellite teams as well. You can definitely see the influence of the past few years of Motoo3 finally having an effect on the big class. These guys are fearless, and have no issues with rubbing a bit of paint that's for sure. The works Ducati hit 355KPH in practice yesterday, 355KPH, I'll just let that sink in, and Moto3 is only 8 seconds shy of MotoGp times, this is amazing. What makes it all the more amazing is that the top 12 qualifiers were all within 700th's of a second of the best time. Shit that is incredible. The summer is nearly upon us, and the rides are being planned as well, so that's always good news, we haven't been out for a while now and I am looking forward to doing some summer cruises on the Guzzi. Speaking of which it's still being worked on, nearly a whole year now. Shit if that was my only bike I'd be dying by now. But I've been told on at least 4 occasions that it's nearly ready. My Croation mechanic cracks me up, I wish you could hear the guys accent when he's talking to me about the bike, but you have to be relaxed don't you? OK enough rambling, on with this weeks installment, enjoy and share.
As you probably already know, I ride with a group affectionately known as the Lizards, and in that group are an awful lot of ex racers, and every so often photos of them are posted, so when they do come up I will put them up on here. below one of the lizards giving it some back in the day. This bike looks like a shaft drive XJ750 Yamaha. I guess back then you rode what was available, certainly don't have the choice we have now.
New Zealand racing back in the day, we were pretty lucky to have some very talented racers and even more so to have the factories ship their bikes here first, before the rest of the world got to see them.
Sorry, but these adventure bikes that the factories sell to us, are not dirt bikes, they are overweight tourers with mere pretentions at being dirt bikes.
I don't normally post these memes, but some people need to get a message, that is so eloquently put better by others than me.
Lizards in their sheds
1275 HP!!!!!!!!!
Another message for those that think and know that's it's meant for them.
I think that the BMW R Nine T has become singularly the most customized bike available today
But then there's these too.
Even Lizards need a wee kip from time to time.
I had one of these , bought it new, it was......nice......that's all .....nice, did everything so well, but did not stir the soul, so it went back after one big ride around the South island.
Now these things stir the soul, even on a little ride to the shops and back, that's the difference between European motorcycles and Japanese.
GOAT!!!!!!!
Roadside pies, are the best.
Still looks fantastic
Chilli, has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, such a shame
And to think this started life off as a seed about the size of 1/2 a pea. What gave us the right to cut them down. It amazes me.
sex in a single cylinder, the Ducati 500 single, if only they had produced it for the road, imaging how many would be sitting in garages now, and the stories that would have been told.
Right get out of here, hit the road and bugger off somewhere. Enjoy Ciao
