As our attention turns to Motofest this year, the lizards are getting a bit excited about the days racing ahead. Lovely smelly old Two strokes ridden in anger, some pretty famous ex racers in attendance, and generally speaking a great day out. The weather looks premo and the ride is arranged, so if your not at the meeting in Hampton Downs then your not at the best meeting New Zealand has to offer. So early March, and it's still as hot and muggy as. The thoughts of most of the lads have turned to our next excursion down south, we haven't been that way for a couple of years and are all really looking forward to riding the roads that God made for himself, but lets us use every now and then. We have the Long lunch in Wanaka at Warbirds over Wanaka, got a massive hanger set up, with tables, food and wine, and the bonus of fighter pilots and planes flying all over the place just above us. It will be a great day. We are all meeting in Wellington and then all catching the Ferry down for a couple of days ride either West or East depending on the weather, then on the way back, it's a cruise really with people going in all sorts of directions, some heading straight back, some going south. I won't be taking the Guzzi unfortunately, as the bike is still being worked on, wiring the like, so the BMW is being pressed into action. Not too sure how that will go, but we will see. So enjoy this weeks installment, and see you all at Hampton downs.
The image below was taken a coupe of years ago, some of you may note wine being consumed, but that's because we had fancy accommodation and the ice was still being made for the Bourbons later on in the evening. Read later on in the blog as to why I mentioned this.
The BMW is nearly finished
Love this view of these bikes, a bit like a Guzzi, it's all about the engine
3rd to 4th must be interesting
One of the nicest paint jobs I've ever done thats for sure. Team Big Balls
Beware Chinese
shit on line
Over the past few weeks the discussions have turned to the Lizard ride down south and the long lunch. The topic of food came to the fore, it was agreed that generally speaking wine was out, and Bourbon was in, and none of this low fat Coke shit, what the fuck is Zero Coke, it has to be full fat. Vegetables, generally frowned on when away riding , but to some a necessity, so in deference to the conversation and to all of you who seem to be somewhat confused the following images are of road trip food that are ALL good for you, and should be taken in large quantities.
South island means that somewhere along the way a good sized plate of scallops should be consumed
Again roasted vegetables are good for you, you can make an honest attempt at avoiding the green shit, that's ok
Roasted potatoes are a must to any self respecting motorcyclist, essentials for keeping the energy levels up when riding the next morning
Cafe sandwiches are also highly recommended, personally I try a cheese and onion sandwich when ever I go to a new place, and from that point on the town will always be good, or it will always be shit.
Goes without saying, although I am not a fan of these fucking burgers that drip shit everywhere, always getting stuff on your best motorcycle T shirt, and only found when you stop at the next place and undo your jacket
This is basic South Island tucker, to be had anywhere, a plate full of goodness, but it does need white pepper ( none of this out of a grinder stuff that's too fancy) and it also needs lashings of Worcestershire Sauce ( only . Only then is it Ok to consume in front of your mates
Only if you go somewhere fancy, but it has to be fancy
Roasted chicken wings are also OK to eat and you wont catch Convid19 from this.at least we cook our chicken and don't eat the little ones raw
So take note, there you have some of the food groups that are OK to eat while travelling
So that's all for this week, hope you got out and about in this stunning riding weather, it certainly has to be taken when it can be taken.
Thanks as always.
